Christmas 2009

How the canine members of the Bailey family spent Christmas day

Santa brought my dogs shiny new bowls for Christmas! Here Oliver is eating Christmas dinner from his new gold one, and Dougal is in the background with his tartan one

This is the view from our veranda on Christmas day.

Here’s Dougal at his happiest. It’s dog-tennis time! We play twice a day, every day, rain or shine.

This is Fergus engaging in one of his favourite pastimes: eating dirt. He doesn’t just eat dirt for the sake of it – no, he’s a dirt connoisseur. He’ll spend ages scratching around, looking for the perfect bit. Then he eats it. (His humans only feed him twice a day – can you believe it?)

Jazzie is usually playing dog-tennis with Dougal and the humans, but for a few minutes on Christmas day, she skipped out to have a look at something in the bush.

Ollie doesn’t engage in dog-tennis. Or many games at all. He’s not fond of a fray. During the games, he sticks close by the humans (ducking the racquets) and tries to be inconspicuous.
